Sell Gift Cards for Your Classes and Services

Let customers buy a prepaid balance to give to someone else. You're paid up front, and the person who receives it can spend it on any booking.

Gift cards are one of the easiest ways to bring in new customers. Someone who already loves what you do buys one for a friend, and that friend books with you. You're paid on the day the card is bought.

GetaBooking now lets you sell gift cards straight from your booking site. There's nothing extra to install, and payments go through your existing Stripe account.

How It Works for Your Customers

  1. 1They tap the Gift Cards button at the top of your booking site and choose an amount.
  2. 2They pay by card through Stripe.
  3. 3They receive a unique gift card code on the confirmation screen and by email, with a card they can print or save to give as a present.
  4. 4Whoever receives it enters the code at checkout using Redeem gift card, and the balance comes off the price.
Balances carry over. If a booking costs less than the card, the rest stays on the code for next time. If it costs more, the customer pays the difference by card.

Setting It Up

You'll find gift cards in your dashboard. The settings are simple:

    • Show on booking site. Adds a "Gift Cards" button to the top of your public page.
    • Gift card amounts. Offer up to 5 fixed amounts, for example £10, £25 and £50.
    • Where it can be used. All your services, or only the ones you choose.
    • Validity. Set how many days a card lasts after purchase (default 365 days, 12 months). The expiry date is fixed when the card is bought and shown on the emailed card.
    • Terms (optional). For example, "Gift cards are valid for 12 months and non-refundable." These are shown to buyers at checkout and on the emailed card.

Keep Track of Every Card

Every card you sell appears in your dashboard, showing who bought it, how much has been used, how much is left, and when it expires. If you ever need to, you can deactivate a card with one click.

Good to know: if a booking paid with a gift card is cancelled, the amount goes back onto the card. Gift cards can't be used on services that take a deposit.

Gift Cards or Class Passes?

Gift cards hold a money balance and are perfect for presents. If your regulars want to buy a bundle of classes for themselves, a class pass or monthly membership is usually a better fit.

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the person receiving a gift card use it?

They enter the gift card code at checkout using Redeem gift card, and the balance is taken off the price of their booking.

What if the booking costs less than the gift card?

The remaining balance stays on the code, so it can be used on another booking until it runs out or expires.

Can I limit gift cards to certain services?

Yes. You can allow gift cards on all your services or only on the services you select.

Do gift cards expire?

You choose how long they're valid for, with 365 days as the default. The expiry date is shown on the emailed card, and expired codes can't be redeemed.
