Your Booking Site Now Has Its Own Installable App
Let your clients add your branded booking app to their home screen — one dedicated app for your business, where they rebook, reschedule within your rules, and see memberships and wallet credit at a glance.
The GetaBooking Customer Portal started life as a simple place for clients to log in and see their bookings. It has grown into something much bigger: a fully installable app, branded to each business, that your customers can add to their phone home screen and open like any other app — no app store, no download, no friction.
This update bundles together the features our owners asked for most: an installable app experience, self-service rescheduling inside the limits you set, and a clear view of memberships and wallet credit. Everything stays in sync with your calendar and fires instant notifications, so you reclaim hours of admin without giving up control. Here is everything that is new, and how to switch it on.
Watch the Walkthrough
The quickest way to understand the new portal is to see it. The short walkthrough below starts at the branded sign-in screen and shows the full client experience — logging in, viewing bookings, rescheduling, and installing the app to the home screen.
What Clients Can Do in the Portal
- See every booking in one place: current and upcoming appointments, plus full booking history — no digging through email confirmations.
- Reschedule themselves (if you activate it): move a booking to another time for the same service, within the cutoff window you set.
- Book again in a tap: rebook a service they have had before without starting from scratch.
- Check wallet credit: members see their current wallet balance alongside their bookings.
- View membership plans: see the plans you offer and manage their own subscription in the secure billing portal.
- Install the app: add your branded portal to the home screen for one-tap access next time.
Self-Service Rescheduling — Strictly on Your Terms
Letting clients move their own appointments is the headline time-saver, but only if it never puts your schedule at risk. The portal gives clients freedom inside the boundaries you define:
- Same service only: clients can change the date and time, but not swap to a different service — so your pricing and availability logic stay clean.
- Booking cutoff you control: set a minimum notice window (for example, 24 hours). Try to move a slot inside that window and the portal politely explains it has closed and to contact you directly.
- No self-cancellation: customers cannot cancel through the portal. To cancel, they contact you — so your cancellation and refund policy is always applied.
The Perfect Partner for Bulk & Multi-Slot Bookings
Self-service rescheduling does something quietly powerful: it removes the last reason a client hesitates before buying in bulk. With multi-slot checkout, a client no longer has to commit to a rigid, fixed block of sessions. They can confidently buy several classes at once — because they know that if life gets in the way, they can safely move a session to another time themselves, within your rules.
That combination is the whole point. The portal takes away the "what if I can't make one of them?" worry that stops people buying more than a single slot, while multi-slot checkout lets them grab the lot in one go. We have removed every barrier we can to getting that booking over the line — and we have done it without adding a single step to a streamlined, frictionless checkout.
Memberships & Wallet, Right Inside the Portal
If you run memberships, the portal now doubles as a self-serve membership hub. Clients see the plans you offer, can subscribe through secure Stripe checkout, and manage, change, or cancel their plan from the billing portal — without emailing you.
Where memberships are paired with wallet credit, members also see their current wallet balance next to their bookings. Prepaid clients and monthly-credit members get full transparency over top-ups and deductions, which cuts the "how much do I have left?" messages to zero.
Changes Sync Everywhere, Instantly
You should never have to babysit the backend to catch a change. The moment a client reschedules, GetaBooking fires three things at once:
- Email confirmations to both you and the client, so everyone has the new time in writing.
- Google Calendar update on both sides through our automated calendar sync — your connected calendar reflects the change immediately.
- Push notification to your phone, so a change never slips past you even when you are away from the desk.
Installing the App Takes Two Taps
There is no app store and nothing to download. Once a client signs into your portal under My Bookings on your website, a small install prompt appears on their phone — the same effortless flow owners already know from adding the GetaBooking owner app to their own home screen. Here is exactly what your clients see.
On Android (Chrome)
- 1Open your booking page or portal in Chrome.
- 2Tap the Install app banner at the bottom (or ⋮ menu → Install app).
- 3Confirm — your branded app lands on the home screen.
On iPhone (Safari)
- 1Open your portal in Safari.
- 2Tap the Share icon in the toolbar.
- 3Choose Add to Home Screen, then Add.
Once installed, the portal opens full-screen with your logo and colours — no browser bars, no address field, just a clean app. It is the identical mechanism behind the GetaBooking owner app: both are installable Progressive Web Apps, so you and your clients get the same one-tap, home-screen experience without ever touching the App Store or Google Play.
How to Turn On the Customer Portal
- 1Open the Customer Portal settings: go to the Bookable Items menu and click the Customer Portal button at the top.
- 2Enable the portal: in this menu switch the Customer Portal on, and optionally enable booking amendments if you want clients to reschedule themselves.
- 3Set a cutoff time: if booking amendments are enabled, set a cutoff (for example, 24 hours) — this lets clients swap up to 24 hours before the booking.
- 4Turn on the membership wallet view (optional): if you use a membership wallet system where customers pay monthly and spend against a discounted member balance, you can enable this view too.
The Bottom Line
The Customer Portal has become one of the most powerful ways to look bigger and run leaner at the same time. Your clients get a polished, branded app on their home screen that lets them manage their own bookings and shows their memberships and wallet at a glance.
You keep every guardrail that matters: same-service-only changes, a cutoff window you control, and cancellations that always run through you. The admin that used to eat your evenings — the texts, the calls, the calendar juggling — quietly disappears.
The portal is included for every GetaBooking business at no extra cost, and it pairs naturally with the rest of the platform, from membership management to Google Calendar sync. Switch it on from the Bookable Items menu and give your clients the app experience they already expect.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do clients have to download anything from the App Store or Google Play?
No. The portal is a Progressive Web App that installs straight from your booking page. On a phone, clients tap Install (Android) or Add to Home Screen (iPhone) and your branded app lands on their home screen — no app store, no download, nothing for you to publish or maintain.
Do clients have to log in every time?
No. Like any app, the portal keeps clients securely signed in between visits, so it opens straight to their bookings. Sessions expire safely after a period of inactivity, so there is no permanent login left on a shared device.
Can customers cancel their own bookings through the portal?
No. To protect your revenue, cancellations are not self-service. Customers can reschedule within your rules, but to cancel they must contact you directly — so your cancellation and refund policy is always applied.
How does the booking cutoff time work?
You set a minimum notice window in GetaBooking. For example, with a 24-hour cutoff, a client trying to move a slot 12 hours before the start time is told the window has closed and to contact you directly. It stops last-minute changes from disrupting your day.
Can clients change to a different service when rescheduling?
No. Self-service rescheduling only allows a change of date and time for the exact same service originally booked. This keeps your pricing and availability logic clean and predictable.
Can members see their wallet balance and manage memberships in the portal?
Yes. If you run memberships, clients can view your plans, subscribe through secure Stripe checkout, and manage or cancel their subscription from the billing portal. Where memberships use wallet credit, members also see their current wallet balance next to their bookings.
Do I get notified when a client reschedules?
Yes. A reschedule triggers an immediate email to you and the client, an instant Google Calendar update on both sides, and a push notification to your phone — so a change never catches you off guard.
Is the Customer Portal an extra cost?
No. The Customer Portal, the installable app, and self-service rescheduling are included for every GetaBooking business at no extra cost. Activate it from the Bookable Items menu — click the Customer Portal button at the top.
